San Pedro de Laguna on Lake Atitlan. I have had very mixed feelings since we arrived here. Supposedly beautiful natural circumstances; we are at an altitude of about 1600m above sea level, on the great Lake Atitlan surrounded by mountains and 3 volcanoes. The last eruption of Atitlan took place in 1853, so I put aside the fear sown by the earthquake in Antigua that I had just experienced and turn it into an inactive volcano of emotions.

Antigua Guatemala. A town beautifully simple at the foot of active volcanoes: Volcán de Agua, Acatenango, and Volcán de Fuego. The extraordinary views and fresh air delight us constantly🌋 As soon as I got off the bus, I thought I would rest here, but fate had a different plan for us. From the day we arrived, we fought a battle with fleas (which we won after visiting a doctor), we lost our strength due to … (the fight continues), we were in two hospitals from which I left without a diagnosis, but with a prescription for migraines and electrolytes.
This is the first city in Guatemala we visit. We stayed in the outskirts of the town, so we quickly became friends with Mario, the tuk tuk driver. Flores is also a base for trips to Tikal, the Mayan ruins. We went there with a guide, which was a good idea. A few intense hours of walking through the jungle and admiring the ruins is a great experience; especially since we also see an anteater, coatis, howler monkeys and a local falcon. And from the top of one of the ruins we admired the dense, deep green expanse of the jungle.We have also visted Lanquin and had the best magical experience when swimming in Semuc Champey!
